Class Field Trips

Reserve a trip for students to experience hands-on labs in one of our state-of-the-art laboratory classrooms. DNALC educators and biologists are trained to deliver an exceptional learning experience to every visitor.

Reservation Request
  • Field trips are held during the academic year only, September–June. DNALC classrooms are limited to 24 or 32 students.
  • Teachers can access protocols and student prep materials in the field trip descriptions.
  • Financial assistance is available for Title 1 schools booking field trips at the DNALC NYC or Harlem DNA Lab.
  • All cancellations must be made in writing to dnalc@cshl.edu or by calling/emailing the booking contact on your confirmation paperwork.
    • We require at least 2-weeks notice for all cancellations or reservation changes, including the number of lab classrooms required.
    • Schools that fail to adhere to this policy will be responsible to pay the fee for each lab room that was reserved. Schools with repeated late cancellations or no-shows will not be permitted to make future bookings.

At DNALC Locations

  • $450 / up to 2–hour field trip
  • $680 / 2+ to 4–hour field trip*
  • $880 / 4+ to 6–hour field trip*

In-school Instruction:

  • $1,500 / day In-school instruction
  • (up to 5 periods per day for grades 5–8, tri-state area schools only)

  • *For the Human Mitochondrial Sequencing and DNA Barcoding labs there is an additional $75 sequencing fee per class for all classes.
  • Schools with Field Trip memberships will pay a discounted rate per class for additional high school field trips not included in membership benefits.
  • For the DNA Models lab, there is an additional $5 fee per student.

2-hour field trips

Combine 1-hour labs or museum tours, or choose a single 2-hour lab.

  • 1 hour hands-on labs
  • 1 hour museum tour (Long Island and Brooklyn only)
  • 1 hour computer lab (Mystery of Anastasia)
  • 2 hour hands-on lab

2.5–6 hour field trips

Choose a single 2.5–6 hour lab, or combine 1-hour labs or museum tours.
