Interviewee: James Watson. James Watson discusses the founding of the Kaiser Wilhelm Institute for Anthropology, Human Genetics, and Eugenics, the German equivalent of the Eugenics Record Office. Here he talks about Eugen Fischer and Charles Davenport both believed in negative eugenics to prevent those with "bad genes" from reproducing. Fischer was asked by Davenport to be the president of the third International Congress of Eugenics, so, they were buddies, you might say, they believed in improving human beings through negative selection, that is, not allowing bad genes to reproduce. Whereas the British were, much more positive selection, if you had money you had a large family.
