Modern humans: a late arrival, still image with audio
So we really are a pretty late arrival on the scene. We don't see evidence of these separate lines of evolution, which the multi-regional model would propose existed. There's evidence, that there were separate species but not in fact ancestors for modern humans in these other parts of the world. So, even in the recent stages we've got complexity, we've got extinctions, and perhaps only some of the fossils even in Africa are going to turn out to be our ancestors.
