Urban Barcode Project and Urban Barcode Research Program 2017: Participant Reflections

Students reflect on their participation in two DNALC-led programs that use DNA barcoding to explore biodiversity in the New York metropolitan area. The Urban Barcode Project is the first large-scale effort that engages high school students to explore New York City biodiversity through the use of DNA technology under teacher mentorship. In the Urban Barcode Research Program, high school students complete introductory workshops and then conduct independent, student-driven research projects under expert mentorship.
