[stamped]University College London Galton Papers 240/7[end stamp] Dear Sir Francis Galton, The Council met on Dec. 8th., to consider the financial position of the Society. It will not be necessary to draw upon the 'Guarantee Find' for the publication of "The Eugenics Review" as heavily as the later numbers are practically clearing their expenses. The Committee calculate that at [underscore]most[end underscore] only 25% need be called upon, and in all probability, in the coming year the enterprise will be completely self-supporting. We wish to lay before the Guarantors a plan which, if it obtains their support, will add greatly to the practical value of the Society. The demand for the representatives of the Society to address Provincial Meetings is steadily increasing. During the last three months, lectures have been given at Darby, Manchester, Leeds, and Birmingham, besides those in the environs of London, calls now come from Liverpool, Glasgow, and Cardiff. If these and other requests are to be complied with, it is necessary to raise a Lecture Fund, in order to pay travelling expenses. The services of all lecturers are being given free. (1) [end]
