Activity description:
As a follow up to part I, DNALC instructor Jeff will demonstrate how gel electrophoresis is used to confirm the presence of foreign genes in DNA from common foods. You will then see how computation has become an integral part of molecular biology research as you learn to use free online bioinformatic tools to further explore genetic modifications of crops.
In this DNALC Live session, you will:
• Analyze and interpret gel electrophoresis results
• See the movement between in vitro experimentation and in silica computation
• Use bioinformatics to further investigate the genetic engineering of crops
