Activity description:
Cells are the building blocks of life. Join DNALC instructor Megan as she introduces the basic structure and function of the animal cell and walks you through the steps of building a cell model out of household materials. Using a simple factory analogy, you will learn how the major parts of a cell work together to make a product.
We will:
• Discuss some variations among animal cells
• Discover that in nature “form fits function”
• Learn how organelles and other structures work together in a cell, much like in a factory
• Build a model of an animal cell
