The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) is seeking an innovative Manager of Marketing who will be instrumental in helping to extend the brand and reach of our transformative programs to new partners globally. This is a new and exciting role that offers the opportunity to make a profound impact on science literacy by creating a sustainable business model that will forge partnerships that bring DNALC’s signature programs to new frontiers.
Position Responsibilities
- Partner closely with DNALC Executive Director and other leaders to create and execute strategic marketing and expansion plans aimed at forming long-term global partnerships. Lead efforts to identify, evaluate, and cultivate potential partners—whether they are educational institutions, government entities, corporations or non-profits—with the resources and vision to implement DNALC's groundbreaking programs.
- Serve as the primary liaison to client organizations, managing relationships from initial contact through program delivery and ongoing assessment.
- Collaborate across teams to coordinate all phases of program expansion:
- Establish and oversee legal agreements;
- Identify and secure funding sources;
- Support business planning, facility design, and construction;
- Assist with equipment procurement and staff recruitment and training;
- Facilitate annual reviews, reporting, and compliance with DNALC’s best practices for sustainable operations.
- Build and maintain a comprehensive prospect list of potential clients and help develop promotional materials to drive engagement and awareness.
Position Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in business administration, finance, marketing, or a related field.
- 5+ years of experience in business development, strategic partnerships, or project management, with a proven ability to cultivate and manage client relationships.
- Experience in life sciences, science outreach, or education is a big plus.
- Passion for science literacy and a self-starter mentality with exceptional communication and collaboration skills.
- Willingness to travel both domestically and internationally to meet prospective partners and and then service clients.
- This role is based at our headquarters in Cold Spring Harbor or Brooklyn, New York, with a the potential of a flexible hybrid work model and opportunities for global travel.

The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory seeks an Finance & Educational Grants Administrator II to join our leadership team. This finance-focused role reports directly to the DNALC Executive Director and collaborates with the Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory Office of Sponsored Programs (OSP) to oversee financial and grants management, organizational metrics, and operational strategy. The Administrator II will play a key role in supporting the financial sustainability and growth of DNALC centers across the New York metropolitan area.

Position Responsibilities
- Manage DNALC financial operations, including tracking income, processing payments, overseeing budgets, and preparing periodic financial reports.
- Collaborate with the Office of Sponsored Programs to facilitate grant submissions, ensure compliance, manage budgets, prepare reports, and oversee grant-related projects.
- Maintain and organize visitation records, generate periodic reports, and contribute to the development of office management software.
- Support DNALC leadership in achieving project management objectives and organizational goals.
- Act as the primary liaison for DNALC collaborators, consultants, vendors, and clients.
- Budgeting Support: Assist in the development and adherence to annual budgets by providing detailed financial analysis and forecasting.
- Cost Management: Collaborate with procurement teams to ensure cost-effective purchasing of food and beverage products and support group purchasing initiatives.
Position Requirements
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in finance, business, accounting, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- Certification or experience in financial management, including budgeting and auditing.
- Demonstrated experience with grant administration and compliance for federally funded programs (e.g., NIH, NSF).
- Strong project management skills and proficiency in relevant tools/software.
- Expertise in financial software and advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word).
- Excellent analytical and communication skills, with experience in presenting financial trends and projections.
- Proven leadership and team management experience.
Preferred Qualifications:
- 1–2 years of experience in grants and contracts administration or a financial/accounting background.
- Familiarity with data visualization and office management tools.

Lead Instructor
DNA Learning Center, Meharry Medical College, Nashville, Tennessee
This position involves providing hands-on genetics and molecular biology instruction to precollege students as part of the Meharry Medical College DNA Learning Center (DNALC), a unique collaboration with Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory and the Diaspora Human Genomics Institute. The role includes delivering academic year field trips, summer camps, and extended research projects, as well as training and managing high school interns, conducting in-school instruction, assisting with student research programs, and developing teaching modules. The position also involves conducting teacher training sessions and creating innovative educational resources in genetics and molecular biology.
The Lead Instructor will work closely with DNALC leadership and collaborators to implement impactful education programs aimed at improving access to genetics education and supporting Together for Change, an initiative to sequence the genomes of 500,000 individuals of African heritage to address healthcare disparities. Occasional weekend work, travel for training or instruction, and initial training at a DNALC facility in New York will be required.
Daily Operations
- Provide hands-on genetics and molecular biology instruction, including developing teaching modules and instructional materials
- Train and manage high school interns and support student research programs

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Experience in teaching biology, genetics, or molecular biology concepts, with a focus on hands-on instruction for precollege students.
- Proficiency in basic molecular biology techniques, including DNA extraction, PCR, gel electrophoresis, and DNA barcoding, with the ability to learn new techniques as needed.
- Strong organizational and time-management skills to coordinate multiple educational programs, manage interns, and deliver in-school instruction effectively.
- Ability to develop and adapt teaching materials, lesson plans, and modules for diverse educational settings.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills to engage students, train teachers, and collaborate with DNALC staff and external partners.
- Familiarity with personal genomics, bioinformatics, or DNA sequencing technologies is preferred.
- Competence in managing high school student interns and fostering a supportive and inclusive learning environment.

Education and Experience:
Required Education:
- Master's degree or higher in biology, genetics, molecular biology, education, or a related field.

- Minimum of one year of teaching or educational experience, preferably in a science-related field.

The DNA Learning Center (DNALC) of Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory has an immediate full-time educator position available at the Regeneron DNA Learning Center in Sleepy Hollow, NY. This center, which opened in fall 2019, is a unique collaboration between an established research institute and a rising star in biotechnology. The facility has two teaching labs and is located on the Sleepy Hollow campus of Regeneron Pharmaceuticals. We are looking for a dynamic, engaging educator to join our team as we expand operations in Westchester County, NY and northern New Jersey.
Responsibilities will include:
- providing hands-on genetics and molecular biology instruction to precollege students visiting the DNALC for academic year field trips, summer camps, and extended research projects;
- delivering in-school instruction;
- training and managing high school interns;
- assisting with student research programs;
- conducting teacher training; and
- developing teaching modules.

Position Requirements
Strong candidates will have teaching experience and a background in biology. New York State teaching certification is a plus, but not required. The position demands a motivated self-starter who can work independently and as part of a team, with excellent writing, computer, and communication skills.
